THE
GOOD HOUSE by Ann Leary
You can keep secrets but they always come
back to haunt you
Hildy Goode is a successful real estate
agent, well-respected member of her community, devoted to her family, and an
alcoholic. She was to have been noted as
a recovering alcoholic but convincing herself that just one little drink to get
through the night is acceptable.
In her heart Hildy knows that sneaking around
and lying about why she is having a bad morning is not the way to live. She takes her clients on their house tours,
involves herself in her grandson’s life, and every day tries to sneak just a
sip here and there to take the edge off.
Everything was going as it should until one client becomes a friend,
that leads to deception, and too many poor choices that affect everyone around
Hildy and her home. Compounding this
problem with a blackout that may have taken her on a turn for the worst that
even rehab cannot fix.
Books sounds good!!! Drinking can make you do things you don't want to do or say!
ReplyDeleteI heard about this book a few months back and promptly added it ot my wishlist. It sounds like a thought-provoking read and Hildy's story sounds very emotional. Your review confirms even more why I want to read this. I like that I can expect some twists and turns as well.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting - is it an audio book?
ReplyDeleteThis is an audio book! Thanks for asking
DeleteSounds like there are many twists and turns to this one.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I have seen of THE GOOD HOUSE. I don't think I've ever read a book about an alcoholic.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting subject to write about. I've only read about people drinking, in my historical romance books.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering what happens to Hildy.
