THE
CHIEFTAIN by Margaret Mallory (CLICK HERE for review and voting option)
The
wonders of love you discover when you see with your heart
Trying to stay alive is a full time job for
Connor, Chieftain of the MacDonalds of Sleat.
He has more enemies than he can keep track of with spies surrounding him
at every turn. The most cunning devil of
all is the uncle who wants to take everything away at the cost of Connor’s
life, but he is not going down without a fight.
Every day by his side is the biddable Ilysa who minds his keep and holds
her own secrets close to her heart.
Ilysa has spent her life dreaming of the love and man she can never have
– Connor.
Connor looks not to make a love match but an
alliance with an ability to join forces with him and create a peace in the land
no one can seem to achieve. Yet Ilysa is
changing right before Connor’s eyes and the harder he looks the more she appears
to be a temptation to his heart he cannot afford. Ilysa has the power to heal and the sight
with which she watches out for friends and foe alike to keep Connor safe. Ilysa has not dared tell Connor of her love,
as he cannot care for her let alone want her in his bed, or can he? Once the pretense of friendship is dropped
and romance begins, heaven help them all.
There are so many factions trying to take
Connor down that he is struggling to figure out when and where the next attack
will come. What Connor does know is that
a marriage or alliance will not work as long as the joy of love with Ilysa is a
possibility. Keeping them both alive is
priority one and after that the rest will fall from the sky as it may.
Margaret Mallory captures the love the land
held so dear, combined with the romance of two people that want no more than to
dream of the future. Ms. Mallory draws
readers in, keeps them captivated with her story, and lets every person reading
the book sigh over the beauty every discovered relationship brings. Lovely!
