Heart of Darkness Blog Tour with Cynthia Garner and Kendra Leigh Castle

Aloha!   I am a guest today to promote Forever's blog tour for Cynthia Garner and Kendra Leigh Castle.  Why me?  Let me count the ways ...

1.   From Cynthia's bio (at this link),

I’m originally from northeast Ohio and fled the snow over ten years ago to live in the heat of southeastern Arizona.

Cynthia could have fled to Hawaii to have snow and heat ... as we are expecting 6-12 feet of snow on Mauna Kea.

2.   From Kendra's bio (at this link),

After graduating from SUNY Oswego (where it also snowed a lot) with a teaching degree, Kendra ran off with a handsome young Navy fighter pilot and has somehow accumulated three children, three dogs, and one enormous cat during their many moves.

Oh, snow again!   We even have a few Navy pilots in Hawaii!

3.  Cynthia created the Warriors of the Rift series,

Once a generation, the rift between the paranormal world and the human world opens, allowing supernatural entities to cross. Vampire, demon, or shapeshifter, they can save the world–or send it spiraling into chaos.

The Makua Cave in West Oahu is home of the shapeshifting shark.

4.  Kendra penned the Dark Dynasties series,

Blood is power. Desire is destiny.

Welcome to the world of night, wh
ere an entire civilization lives and breathes just out of sight of our own. For thousands of years, the great vampire dynasties have ruled the lesser bloodlines with an iron fist, taking what they want, when they want it, and feuding amongst themselves over petty intrigues and imagined slights. In the roving vampire courts of the powerful, your mark, a physical manifestation of the bloodline you were sired into, is your destiny. Lowblood or highblood, nothing can change a vampire’s place in this arcane society. But change is coming to those who have dominion over the dark….and as new dynasties rise and ancient powers fall, only one thing is certain: nothing will ever be the same again.

We have roving Night Marchers - ghosts of ancient warriors who return to battlefields.

5. Cynthia is eagerly awaiting the release of HEART OF THE DEMON, Book 2, on February 26:

Warriors of the Rift

Once a generation, the rift between the paranormal world and the human world opens, allowing supernatural entities to cross. Vampire, demon, or shapeshifter, they can save the world-or send it spiraling into chaos.

The next opening of the rift is coming-and its consequences will be deadly. A rogue group of human-hating preternaturals is planning an apocalyptic attack, but the Council of Preternaturals may have found the key to saving the world: Keira O'Brien, a fey with a long criminal record, whose empathic abilities once made her the queen of con artists. If she successfully infiltrates the dangerous faction, the sins of her past will be forgiven.

Keira isn't the only agent working against the rogue prets. Finn Evnissyen, a powerful demon with a dark lineage, is a hired assassin looking for a way out. If he stops the threat, he will finally earn his freedom. As the rift fast approaches, and danger escalates, Finn and Keira must discover if they're on the same side-or sleeping with the enemy . . .

6. Kendra welcomed IMMORTAL CRAVINGS, Dark Dynasties Book 4, on January 29:

The last-and most lethal-of his kind . . .

Wild, uncontrollable, and powerful, the lion-shifting Rakshasa were hunted down by vicious rival vampires who feared their dark, magical abilities. Somehow one survived, and now, after centuries of hiding, Tasmin Singh reemerges as fierce and fearless as ever at the door of the Lilim queen, seeking answers . . . and sanctuary.

The human best friend to a vampire queen, Bay Harper traded her quiet, comfortable life for a world filled with immortal assassins, warring werewolves . . . and this hauntingly sexy shifter. Only Bay's gentle touch can subdue Tasmin's inner demons, even as he brings out a passion and sensuality she never imagined she could feel. But when a bloody struggle threatens to tear them apart, can Bay risk everything on her faith in him-or will his dark side be stronger than even their all-consuming desire?

FOREVER is giving away a print copy of HEART OF THE DEMON and IMMORTAL CRAVINGS to one randomly selected commenter. To enter the giveaway,

  3. Our backyard is fenced, so critters tend to show up in our front yard--to which I mistakenly moved the vegetable garden away from the dog. We have had cats, coyote, deer, other dogs, fox, hawks, racoons, and squirrels.

  4. We have a lot of birds and the past few years we have had nesting doves who have had their babies in our backyard. I've loved it! We used to have a possum who used our fence as a way to get around, it's been a long time since we've seen him.

  5. Bunnies... believe it or not. Not now of course when it's freezing outside.

  6. Raccoons, rabbits, stray cats and birds (lots of them). We seen an exotic one a lot. It's tall and has a long beak like a crane.

  7. I have been feeding ferals/strays for over 20 years. Since I put food out for them I also feed raccoons and possums (they are huge lol). I also have a bird feeder (which is safe from the cats). There is the occasional deer, wild turkeys and groundhogs. I've only seen one skunk luckily. Most rabbits have learned to stay away. The smaller rodents have to fend for themselves I'm afraid since I can't protect them from the cats. Circle of life I guess.

  8. KIDS? LOL Teens love to rove around in our backyard. We are too close to a highway for anything else.

  9. For being out in the country, there really aren't a lot of critters running around. I've seen some squirrels and I once saw some bunnies. I did see a Road Runner once.

  10. Here in Florida, we have possums, armadillos, raccoons, and alligators. I'm just glad that our back garden is fenced in, which at least keeps those alligators out. ugh, I've seen a couple of snakes too!!!

  11. neighbor on one side has a big orange cat who likes to wander thru; on the wild side there are rabbits, squirrels, and birds including hawks; deer pass thru on their circuit, but mostly at night - setting off the motion-detector light, and I'll see their footprints if there is snow or mud; last year I even saw a coyote

  13. Thanks for the fun post! These series are awesome :) We live on the edge of a smallish city so we have a lot of cornfields and rural areas. So our backyard borders a corn field and we see a lot of deer, raccoon, possums, moles, field mice... I *hate* the field mice. In fact, I think I'm known as the field mice boogie man b/c once they get into my house, I make 'em disappear!

  16. I live in Central Florida and I've had lots of squirrels, birds, lizards, frogs, cats and the occasional snake in my backyard. I've fished baby snakes, moles, spiders and frogs out of my pool at times as well, even though I have a screened enclosure.
