REVIEW from Mary Gramlich "The Reading Reviewer"

TOUCH OF A SCOUNDREL by Mia Marlowe

When you see a glimpse of the future, do you try to change it?

Griffin Titus Preston Nash or Devon to his friends has controlled the destiny of so many for too long, while trusting no one.  He felt that the responsibility of his life and the gift he possessed has become a burden without pleasure.  Miss Emmaline Farnsworth always found a way of turning nothing into something with her own type of gift and she is about to pull off the largest swindle of her life.

What Emma never expected was for her latest mark to have a brother that can catch glimpses of the future.  Emma feels she landed in a bed of roses but Devon sees her thorns and has an uncontrollable desire to prick his finger on one.  While Emma tries to balance one brother, while seducing the other it becomes a confusing experience trying to figure out which brother she truly desires.

Devon is seeing his future as well as the present very clearly and all of it involves a woman his brother has clearly claimed as his own.  Emma tries very hard to resist Devon’s charm and let the plan she has hatched unfold but the wrinkles are showing and she is bereft to control the situation.  Both Devon and Emma hold their cards close to the vest and keep their secrets safe but is that really going to work when both of them know the biggest secret is the love they feel for one another.  Can love be contained or controlled, neither Devon nor Emma think so.

Whatever will happen when everyone finds out that the greatest piece of artwork ever created was Emma and Devon will do anything to own her.

Mia Marlowe creates magic with her words and romance with her story.  No reader will be able to put Touch of a Scoundrel down until the last word is consumed.

REVIEW from Mary Gramlich "The Reading Reviewer"

FOREVER A LADY by Delilah Marvelle

Is the path I walk of my choosing or the one I am destined to travel?

Free to live the life of a rich widow in New York away from the gossips of London Lady Bernadette Marie Burton has no desire to allow another man to control her destiny.  Matthew Milton knew the prestige and freedom money gave his life and now is living with the pain that losing it brings.

When these two forces meet in New York, there are actions beyond pleasure to partake in, a battle over maintaining one’s pride, and a tussle of wills to overcome.  Matthew is scraping along the underbelly of New York trying to ensure everyone has a meal and a place to sleep while Bernadette fulfills her desires and lives out her dreams going from one adventure to the next.  They both bring a calming peace to each other’s life and trying to overcome the obstacles standing in their way is very difficult.  Overriding every other thought is the feeling that this is the moment to seize.  Every expectation you have from life is right in front of you, so decide how to make the most of it together.  Enemies abound for both of them, and trying to figure out which one of them is bringing trouble to their door is difficult to discern.

Delilah Marvelle writes with such exquisite beauty that the mere words on the page bring a blush to your check and a tear to your eye.  With each book, Ms. Marvelle delivers on the diversity of life and the romance you can find if you keep looking.

Synopsis

Ancient Secrets, Dark Passions . . .

As one of the Grigori, a noble vampire dynasty shrouded in mystery, Ariane has spent her life hidden away in the desert. Like all of her kind, she is a watcher, fated to observe, forbidden to act. Yet when her best friend Sammael vanishes, she defies all rules and flees her safe haven to bring him home.

A shape-shifting assassin for the House of Shadows, Damien Tremaine is hired to locate Sammael. His hunt for the wayward Grigori leads him to Ariane, the rogue vamp who stands between him and his bounty. Damien never lets emotion interfere with his work, but a single touch from the sexy, beguiling vampire shatters his self-control. Drawn together by their common goal, what begins as an alliance of necessity soon becomes one of desire. But when the secret at the dark heart of the Grigori comes to light, Damien and Ariane must make a choice that could bind them eternally . . . or tear them-and everything they care about-apart.

Aloha to Kathy Altman and THE OTHER SOLDIER

This morning during the RWA National Conference, I will be attending a workshop hosted by several members of the Rom Vets - veterans who write romance:

Not Every Man in Uniform Is a Navy SEAL! Developing Military Characters to Steal Readers' Hearts (RESEARCH)

Speakers: Rogenna Brewer, AJ Brower, Geri Krotow, Heather Nickodem, Jo Anne Pinney, and Taylor Reynolds

A panel of authors who are also military veterans will share information on hot military career fields besides special ops; where to research information for military characters; typical military lifestyles, including deployments; and what it’s like to be a female in today’s military.

389th Renegades volunteer at a school.

Since we'll be talking about military heroes at RWA, how about a book review with a military hero?  Kathy Altman newest book is THE OTHER SOLDIER:

Corporal Reid Macfarland has one mission: to make amends for the mistake he lives with every day. That friendly-fire incident in Afghanistan that killed a fellow soldier haunts him. Maybe if he can help the widow, he'll find some peace.

Amends are easier said than done. Just one meeting with the independent and engaging Parker Dean makes it clear that forgiveness is a little more complicated than money or "I'm sorry." If he really wants to help, Reid will need to stick around for a while. The more their daily lives intertwine, the more he realizes her forgiveness isn't the only thing he needs—he needs her.

I posted my review of THE OTHER SOLDIER on Amazon at this link and Goodreads at this link.  I am giving away a print copy of THE OTHER SOLDIER to one randomly selected commenter.  To enter the giveaway,

1.  Leave a comment - readers' choice today!

2.  This giveaway is open to all readers.

3.  Comments are open through Saturday, August 4, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winners on Sunday, August 5.
