The summer continues to sizzle with Jillian Stone's A DANGEROUS LIAISON WITH DETECTIVE LEWIS:
WHEN FANNY Greyville-Nugent's father suffers a gruesome death in the clutches of his own machine, mourning his loss is not the beautiful heiress's only heartbreak. Scotland Yard is convinced he was targeted in a plot to halt the rise of industry, and Fanny's former fiance, dashing and dubious detective Raphael "Rafe" Lewis, has been assigned to the case.
For the estranged ex-lovers, bringing the notorious assassins to justice proves as tumultuous as quelling pent-up desires. Fighting peril and passion at every turn of a dangerous journey from Edinburgh to London, they are pursued by an anarchist group hell-bent on destroying her father's mysterious entry into the London Industrial Exposition.
When an astonishing discovery about the couple's failed engagement surfaces, the sleuthing duo realize they can trust no one. Rafe confesses new details about his infidelity and Fanny risks all to avenge her father's murder. But will Rafe and Fanny triumph over the pain of their past?

So many great detectives. I love Sherlock Holmes and Colombo and Tom BArnaby, another BBC show.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite detective would be Hercule Poirot. He was the first detective his stories I ever read and he kind of stuck with me :)

Hands down for me -- Sherlock Holmes!!!!
ReplyDeleteI used to love watching Inspector Morse on PBS. Inspector Lewis was his sidekick then, but he was just a Sergeant. Now, Inspector Lewis has taken his place, as John Thaw (Inspector Morse) died several years ago.
ReplyDeleteOf course, having lived in Oxfordshire, I'm always nostalgic and happy looking at the very familiar scenery when watching Inspector Lewis.
It's Hercules for me because he's the first mystery that I read....
ReplyDeleteRobert Downey Jr. a.k.a Sherlock Holmes. I'm so in love his with character in the movie. Funny, intelligent and witty.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary;
ReplyDeleteGreat idea.
My favorite detective is Dave Robicheaux from the James Lee Burke novels.
James Lee Burke is one of only a few mystery writers who has won the Edgar Award for Mystery writing, two times.

Hi Kim in Hawaii,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blog/blurb promotion and giveaway! I thought I'd share my own favorite detectives with everyone: Sherlock Holmes, and I love him in just about all his versions, including the BBC's modern day Holmes and there's going to be a new NYC based Holmes with Lucy Lui as Doctor Watson! Pilot airing this September 27. Looks great!
That's a tough question! There's so many great detectives in books, movies, TV shows. I'm going to say Spenser, from the Robert B. Parker books, is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many good ones but I am going to go with Columbo. I loved the way Peter Falk played the character.
ReplyDeleteI, too, have to go with Columbo.
ReplyDeleteI like Eve Dallas and Columbo.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite detective is Sherlock Holmes. Hands down~
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence - I've got one of Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes on right now. I do enjoy detectives - particularly those in the British series. I miss Inspector Morse.
ReplyDeleteEvery little thing I read about this book tears at my heart strings! Rafe and Fanny have a lot to overcome, I think I am looking forward to seeing these two work past the hurt even more than the detective work. And I love some detective mystery solving!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I got addicted to the show Sherlock, the humor of it and the puzzles to figure out. Impossible not to get sucked into the story with those amazing characters. And they have accents! =)
While a big Sherlock Holmes fan, I also like Charlie Chan and Hercule Pirot. Difficult to pick a favorite!
