I
never met a short story I could not make long enough to bore the listener but
this is worth telling.
On
my porch yesterday is a sales person from AT&T trying to tell me all the
wonderful things about the company, etc.
To which I kept saying we hate you, we left you, we are not going
back. He keeps talking and then he says
this…
AT&T
Guy: you are wearing a University of MA shirt did you go to school there?
Me:
no my son is doing his post-doc research there
AT&T
Guy: what is a post-doc, like a kid doctor
Me:
ah no has a PhD and that is who does post-doc work, he is a nuclear physicist
AT&T
Guy: oh wow so he is really smart like those guys on that TV show The Big Bang
Theory
Me:
well since they are actors and not really physicists, I might be as smart as
they are
AT&T
Guy: that’s great has he been to that place with the big telescope
Me:
No but he is going to win a Noble Prize so you might remember my name
AT&T
Guy: what is a Noble Prize
Me:
have a good day (shut the door)
Hence,
the reason we are no longer with AT&T.
They cannot only not manage their product after they sell it they can’t send
people to the door who understand what it is.

I have a squeaky front gate, that I will NEVER, have fixed. I hear it open, check who it is, and before they can even walk up the path I yell out NO THANK YOU!!!
ReplyDeleteI think you may have been visited by one of the more intelligent operators.
Congrats to the winners!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just don't answer my door when the bell rings!!
Congratulations to the winners! Loved the story, Mary.
ReplyDeleteGreat story! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the win and congrats to the other winners!
ReplyDeleteIt's a funny story but a bit sad too as to the intelligence or lack thereof of some people. Sheldon's girl friend, Amy, on the Big Bang Theory actually is what she portrays on the show - very smart and a bit odd lol.
Aloha, Mary! You never fail to make me laugh! I know your son received his "nuclear physicist" genes from you!
ReplyDeleteTHE BIG BANG THEORY is a funny show!
Hahaha, what a great (and embarassing) story about AT&T!
ReplyDeleteThat is a funny story. Thank you and congrats to the other winners!
ReplyDeleteWow. That is so sad that he did not know what a Nobel Prize was! I am pretty sure that they teach that in elementary school. The whole conversation was rather amusing. Sorry for your frustration, but hopefully you can laugh about it now. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the book! I cannot wait to read it.
Congrats to the other winners, too.
Congrats to you also, Mary, for raising a son who will win one! Wonderful job! :)
