Pop Culture Saturday - That Magic Moment

Jesse, Michael, and Pierce from BURN NOTICE.

We have winners for my guest blogs!

The Avengers, Ka'ena Point, and Aeia Loop:
- Mary wins a book choice from my convention stash.

Bethanne Strasser's FOR LOVE OR DUTY
- Miss Kallie wins an ecopy.

Nancy Gideon's SEEKER OF SHADOWS
- Barbara wins a print copy.

Fans of BURN NOTICE were also winners with the most recent episode, LAST RITES.  In the closing scene, Michael visits Fiona at the prison.   He reminds her of when they met in Dublin.   Michael is teary eyed while Fiona realizes that he loves her.   Even if you don't follow the series, you would know from watching this scene that love can conquer all.

  1. Congrats, winners.

Whenever I read GWTW, I am always so moved by the back story of Scarlett's mother, Ellen. In movies, I love the closing minutes of Casablanca.

  2. Congratulations to the winners!

I'm at a loss just picking one lol. There is usually something in every book I read that makes some kind of an impact on me...and then I'm on to the next one lol.

  3. I think I like the moment in Beauty and the Beast when he lets Belle go home to her father because he realizes that he loves her.

  4. The ending of Roman Holiday was bittersweet and made me feel sad and satisfied at the same time.

  5. I do watch Burn Notice but not regularly.
The one favorite scene for me was when Rhett finally left Scarlett. He realized she would not change so he left to start his new life. Very emotional for me.

  7. Emotional impact. Hmmm. The Russell Crowe film, Cinderella Man, comes to mind, when Jimmy Braddock trains his way back as a boxer from oblivion as a loser to win against the undefeated champion. Or Seabiscuit, when all looks lost in that stirring final race and the jockey's best made drops back so that Seabiscuit can look his competition in the eye and charge on to win against the entire field. Overcomer stories always appeal to me, I guess because I was once given 18 months to live after doctors excised a tumor the size of an orange from my jaw. That was in 1991, so I am happy to report it has been over 21 years. I love a great overcomer story!

  8. The end of the movie version of "Homeward Bound." It gets me everytime....seeing the pets run to meet their people. And the older golden retriever taking so long to finally show up. Totally tugs on my heart everytime I watch it.

The final scene in GONE WITH THE WIND always chokes me up. After all tomorrow is another day.

  13. Congrats winners. I've never seen Burn Notice. I'll check it out.
The last scene from a movie so very long ago called the Sullivan Brothers. I don't want to mention what it was in case someone ever gets to see it and my answer would ruin it. The 5 brothers are all in the Navy. A great and sad movie.

  15. It's hard to pinpoint one particular scene from a book or movie that had a huge emotional impact as I'm on the more emotional side, so a lot of things can easily have an emotional impact on me..
