The Convention Season is here ...

Boas ...

RT Bookreviews kicked off the convention season in April ... and the rest are right around the corner!  Lori Foster hosted her annual Reader and Author Get Together this past weekend outside Cincinnati .... my travel buddy D. Renee Bagby flew all the way from Hawaii.  She posted her recap at this link.   Plus Michelle from ANOTHER LOOK BOOK REVIEW posted pictures at this link.

Renee shared her KISSES at Lori Foster's get together!

Jamie and Kati at ROMANCING RAKES FOR THE LOVE OF ROMANCE are counting down to RomCon at this link.  It is scheduled for June 22-24 in Denver at this link.

Authors After Dark will be in New Orleans from August 8 - 12 at this link.

Sigh.  This is the drawback to living in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

But I am attending the RWA National Convention in Anaheim from July 25-28 at this link.  My kids are joining me as hubby is moving to Korea for a one year assignment.  Rest assured, I am  staying in Hawaii, giving me another year to blog about its beauty!   But we'll chat about Korea in a future blog.   If you live within driving distance of Anaheim, consider the Literacy Autographing on Wednesday, July 25, 5 - 8 pm, at this link.  This is great way to meet your favorite authors, support RWA's literacy campaign, and see my kids in action!

More Boas ...

What are your plans for the summer?  One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash.   This giveaway is open to all readers.  Comments are open through Friday, June 8, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winners on Saturday, June 9.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

.... and more boas!

  2. Kim,
I will have to come up for the literacy autographing. Would love to get to meet you in person! As for the rest of the summer, now that I'm out of school I will likely start my job search and I need to start plotting and writing a new book.

  8. Hi Kim!

Good luck to your husband while he's in Korea. I was fortunate that my husband did all of his long sea duty tours before we were married on aircraft carriers. When he was in the Reserves he went somewhere different in the world on P-3's and the two weeks and week-ends weren't that hard on the boys. The only problem was the few years that we only had one car and he took it and had no bus lines. Talk about stocking up on food to last a while! Thankfully we had a freezer!

The summertime is a hectic time for him because he has a hot dog cart down by the ocean. Fortunately for me I get to spend some quiet time down at our associations lake just a block away. It's just a short walk with my "beach" chair and has a tree to sit under to read and with a breeze off the lake and a little shade I can just relax after a hectic week at work. I'm looking forward to taking my 3 year old grandson and give him his first swimming lessons this summer.

I hope you have a great time at the RWA National Convention in Anaheim in July. I keep promising myself that one of these days I'll make it to one of the conventions but it remains a dream but hopefully that will turn into a reality! Do they have any "entertainment" for the children who will be there?

  13. It doesn't feel like Summer yet but when it gets really sunny we're looking forward to lots of barbecues and picnics. I like visiting the parks because they're so beautiful, especially ones with lakes.

  14. Everyone is having such a fabulous time. The boas make me want to sneeze though.

It is WINTER here & it has arrived with a vengeance. So, no plans right now. Just to rug up & try to stay warm.

  17. I'm a trotting Sally this summer. Starting with a trip to Philadelphia and then on to my ole' stoppin' grounds in Michigan next week. July sees me in Myrtle Beach, SC, for a Girls Week with BFF from MI, my daughter, granddaughter and her BFF! And then to top it off - WOOT WOOT! AAD NOLA! I can't wait! I will finally get to meet, in the flesh, some wonderful friends I have made online!

  18. I plan on catching up on some serious reading. I love summer because of the additional time I have to read (on average a book a day). Love, love, love it!
