Aloha to Bethanne Strasser and FOR LOVE OR DUTY

Over at SOS Aloha, I interviewed Army spouse and romance author Bethanne Strasser (at this link). I recently reviewed her new book, FOR LOVE OR DUTY:

Growing up the proverbial military brat, Valerie Standish has shed her old ways. Yet, she’s been around long enough to recognize that familiar arrogance when Kevin Morgan walks through the door. This time she is drawn to the persistent captain like she hasn’t been to any man before, making it harder to keep her promise—never get involved with an officer.

Kevin doesn’t have a problem with her unwillingness to commit long term. He isn’t quite ready to settle either. For years, he’s worked hard to earn a promotion to Major. He wants one last fling before tying himself to a wife for the rest of his life.

But time proves them both liars as they begin to fall for each other. Neither is prepared for the ache of betrayal as they come face to face with the truth about one another.

Will either of them be able to walk away unscathed or have the trenches of love already been dug?

I posted my five star review on Amazon at this link and Goodreads at this link. I am giving away a Kindle copy of FOR LOVE OR DUTY to one randomly selected commenter. To enter the giveaway,

  8. Hi Kim!

My answer to your question is a little prejudiced because after my husband got out of the Navy in 1971 after serving on aircraft carriers he joined the Navy Reserves flying on P-3's.

My favorite book AND movie is Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy! To actually see a P-3 in action really helped me to understand exactly what my husband was doing all those week-ends and weeks he was away from home. It made me doubly proud when I found out years after it happened that he was the only one that ever got a picture of the Russian submarine that later went down off the coast of Norway! He took the picture when the submarine was going through the Strait of Gibraltar which is the entry point into the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean.

  9. Kim -

I meant to ask you if you had heard they finally identified the sailor in the picture kissing the nurse and he's from my state - Rhode Island!

  10. I love NCIS and also loved JAG. One of my favorite military movies was Taking Chance with Kevin Bacon. It's hard to pick a favorite military themed book - I love them all. A new author (and military) I really like is Jessica Scott. Her first book is Because of You.
