All Around the World with Jane Austen

Did you know I write a travel blog, ALOHA ON MY MIND at alohaonmymind.blogspot.com?   For the past month, I have posted pictures of Jane, the doll, and Jane, a Flat Stanley silhouette, around Oahu.   Jane is part of Sorucebooks' promotion ALL AROUND THE WORLD WITH JANE:

In the June memoir, All Roads Lead to Austen the author Amy Elizabeth Smith took Jane Austen’s works along with her as she traveled to foreign countries. Her goal was to see if the magic of Jane Austen could hold its power across borders, languages and cultures.

Amy took Jane to far off countries – and we need your help to take her even further! We are holding a contest called All Around the World with Jane! Join us on our Austen love fest by printing out our Jane Austen “flat Stanley.” Take pictures of yourself with Jane in your hometown or on your vacation, and submit it from April 30th – June 30th!

We will award the following prizes to the individuals with the most creative picture:

1 Grand Prize Winner will receive:
An E-reader with all of our available Austen sequels/continuations downloaded on to it
A signed copy of All Roads Lead to Austen by Amy Elizabeth Smith
A Skype session with Amy Elizabeth Smith

3 Second Place Winner will receive:
A signed copy of All Roads Lead to Austen by Amy Elizabeth Smith
A choice of 5 Jane Austen sequels/continuations from Sourcebooks

5 Third Place Winners will receive:
A signed copy of All Roads Lead to Austen by Amy Elizabeth Smith

You can then submit your pictures on the All Around the World with Jane Facebook page or email your submission to landmark@sourcebookspr.com.

The Jane Doll was a gift from my mother in law - it is part of the Little Thinkers plush toys at this link.

Join the fun - download the silhouette, take Jane out, and enter the contest!   Whether or not you take a picture, where would you take Jane in your town, state, and/or country?  One randomly selected commenter from this week's guest blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash.   This giveaway is open to all readers.  Comments are open through Friday, June 15, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner on Saturday, June 16.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

  1. I would take Jane to the observation deck at the Empire State building and then we'll take a short ferry ride so that Jane can take a pic with Lady Liberty.

  2. I think I would take Jane for a horse ride through the countryside. She looks like a gal with an adventurous spirit.

  3. So many choices - maybe to our Planetarium so she could see the stars!

  4. My daughter Clare is taking Jane to Germany with her on Thursday. I can't wait to see what type of photos come back with her. I only took Jane to work with me so far. :(

  5. I'd like to take Jane to the rodeo--which unfortunatly occurs in the spring, so that's out. Maybe I'll take her down to Galveston. Jane would like the beach, wouldn't she?

  6. I would take her to see beautiful Niagara Falls. I think she like the water very much.

  7. I would send her with my daughter and her family. They are going to England, Spain, France and Italy this summer.

  9. Hi Kim!

"I sadly regret that I'm sadly lacking in the skills of technology so regretfully reply that I will be unable to down-load, twit or tweet about the wonderful Jane Austen.

Above quote attributed on many occasions by ME!

Oh well I thought since I couldn't do that instead I would share my favorite Jane Austin quote to dwell upon.

Submitted by a woman in her mid-60's (me) married 42 1/2 years -

    Quote from Jane -

"... it is better to know as little as possible of the defects of the person with whom you are about to pass your life."

Added to quote by Jeanne -

"... and going to live with for a very, very long time!
