Mary’s Monet Moments in Reviewing... ONE NAUGHTY NIGHT by Laurel McKee

In ONE NAUGHTY NIGHT by Laurel McKee the theme that did keep to ripple through was that love conquers all.  Love protects you when it can, warms you when you are cold, and provides a sense of peace among the chaos of life.

Well the romantic believer that I am I truly believed that Aiden and Lily are a couple that despite everything working against them, love was on their side.  It was not a story book romance as the bumps in the road were mighty hefty to overcome, but I truly felt from the magnificent way Laurel McKee wrote this book that it was going to happen someway, somehow.  Deep sigh right here.

I have read and reviewed ONE NAUGHTY NIGHT by Laurel McKee that I received from Grand Central - Forever.  Now it is time to let someone else enjoy it and provide this copy to one lucky winner.  To be eligible to win please leave a comment on “do you think love can overcome everything?”.  You must come back on Sunday – August 21st to see if you have won and then email me with your address.

As a fan of Claude Monet’s I am always moved by how he took the negatives in his life to make them positives.  No one liked his paintings, they criticized his innovative style, and what he thought was okay he went with.  Life may knock you around but look for the one shining moment in the day and celebrate a Little Victory.

ONE NAUGHTY NIGHT by Laurel McKee

Are you really that mysterious or is that just an act to get my attention?

Lily St. Claire was literally plucked off the street and raised up from poverty by the generosity of her adopted family.  The long seeded grudge that they held against the Huntington family was as deeply embedded in her as if she were a true member of the family.  What surprise was she to behold when the one bane of her existence turns out to the joy of her life, Lord Aiden Huntington.

Aiden has always kept his emotions and interests in check, never sharing his secrets.  Being the second son he was able to carry on with the life he wanted as opposed to the one destined to be his older brother’s.  Aiden did indeed carry on until his eyes met Lily’s and time literally stood still.  Never having experienced these emotions before Aiden is not sure what has come over him.  It can’t be anything more than infatuation but the moment he touches her hand the rest he will write down to destiny.

The St. Claire family had many ventures in London both in the theatre and gaming hall.  Lily is an integral part of whatever the family did so her loyalties are tested when Aiden pushes her toward a fall from which she will not recover.  He is handsome and ever so charming but Lily sees beneath this façade to the genuine soul of a poet that is beating just for her.  Having overcome so much in her lifetime, some of which keeps coming back to haunt her can she have both Aiden and her family at the same time?

Laurel McKee starts this new series with sensational characters and a moving story line that will entertain and delight ever reader.

  1. I think love can overcome MOST things, but some things can be too much.

  2. Yes, I do but both parties must want to "overcome" the situation.

  3. I have to say that love is powerful but something are beyond its power.

  4. I think love can be so powerful it can overcome many things. But even in the face of such love there are things that even love makes difficult to overcome.Happy Memorial Day.

  5. “Do you think love can overcome everything?” Love of an individual, probably not. Love, however, of humankind--but not "humans"--maybe, if Corrie ten Boom's The Hiding Place has any validity.

  6. No, I don't think love can overcome everything. Some things we can't control.

  7. I think we want to hope that love can conquer all and as long as there is hope anything is possible.

  8. I don't think love can overcome everything. There are too many things we cannot control.

  9. Sadly no. I don't think that it can overcome everything. I think that is why so many people love reading romance novels, because in them, we get a Happily Ever After. Not always the case in real life.

  11. Love alone cannot overcome everything - unfortunately; but it sure does add a lot to the recipe.

  12. Thank you for a wonderful giveaway! This is the first I've heard of this author and I'm definitely going to check out this book!

I want to believe that love can overcome anything but I'm a bit too pragmatic to really believe that. I agree w/ Linda that that's the reason why we love romance so much, b/c there's the absolute love conquering all w/out real life intruding.

  13. I don't think that love can overcome everything. It might help a little way in trying to resolve whatever the problem is, but at the end of the day, love is just not strong enough alone.

Thank you for introducing me to a new Author Mary.

  14. Perhaps not everything but some many important things. I think some things may take more than love but love in itself is a wonderful starting point.

  16. I think love can go a long way to overcoming obstacles but I don't think it can overcome 'everything'. My daughter is a huge Monet fan and will travel, when she can, to visit museums to see his work and has been known to just sit there and cry because she is so moved.

  17. What would I do with a superpower??? I guess that would depend on the type of power but, like most superheroes, I would use it for the good of mankind.

  18. No. There are some things love cannot overcome - Constant infidelity is one them. You have to have trust.

  19. There is no doubt in my mind that love can overcome all. Love in and of itself means that you will support, encourage, trust, forgive and give your love unconditionally to each other.

True love in and of itself is a commitment for a lifetime and it doesn't matter if the sun is out or the rain is falling.

You may be attracted to many, play well with others but that in and of itself itsn't love.

Love is being able to give yourself fully and without reservation. It endures through seperation whether becasue of work or war, it grows stronger during times of instablity whether financial or becasue of illness. Love is truly being there thru the good times and the bad.

    Love is everlasting.

  20. When you have been in love for a long time you realize that love cannot conquer everything but like money it does make life a little easier to bear.

  22. I love it when the playboy is stopped dead in his tracks and has eyes for only one. Love can handle a lot, but there has to be more than just love.

  23. I think love can overcome anything if two people are united in the goal for that to happen.

  24. Hi everyone! I am sooo sorry I'm so late popping up here--I've been buried in finishing book two in this series and missed out on online stuff lately. :) I've loved reading the comments though--Lexi, I totally agree that the moment the playboy meets his true match and is stopped in his tracks is the best moment in romance novels, I love it...
