Mea Culpa ... I didn't post winners on Saturday! I was hobnobbing with an author visiting Pearl Harbor. So here they are ...
Curses, Hexes, and Spells, Oh My!
- Di wins Cathy Maxwell's LYON'S BRIDE
Caridad Pineiro, THE CLAIMED, Wounded Warriors, and Pearl Harbor
- Marlene wins Caridad's THE CLAIMED
- Na wins a book choice from my convention stash
Fans of Sherlock Holmes were winners last night with the return of BBC's contemporary series starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. Season Two kicked off with A SCANDAL IN BELGRAVIA. Based on A SCANDAL IN BOHEMIA, Irene Adler becomes a target of Sherlock's investigation as a blackmailing dominatrix (rather as an American actress in the original story).

Watson and Holmes were called to the Palace. Holmes came as is .. in a bed sheet.
The BBC production is fast past so it is easy to get lost in the three separate plot lines. Yet all becomes clear as Sherlock connects the seemingly random events. As a fan of the original story, I was delighted when the produces paid homage to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's vision of Sherlock Holmes. He's still eccentric, irreverent, and cheeky, particularly to his brother Mycroft.

Irene Adler becomes "that woman".
The next two episodes modernize THE HOUSE OF THE BASKERVILLES and THE FINAL PROBLEM. And that's a wrap for another year. It's a tease to have only three episodes ... but we take what we can get.

Watson and Holmes travel to Dartmoor to track the Hound.
I am giving away a book choice from my convention stash to one randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs. To enter the giveaway,
1. Leave a comment about a fictional character, storyline, or series that you'd like to see on the silver screen.
I'd love to see Julia Quinn's Bridgerton books made into a miniseries!
2. This giveaway is open to all readers.
3. Comments are open through Friday, May 11, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Saturday, May 12.

There's a book series by Christine Feehan- The Dark Series...that I would love to see on screen. I'm a little obsessed with the books because they are so good and would love to see a movies or series of movies made from the books.
ReplyDeleteBenedict Cumberbatch is amazing. I love Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot and Jane Marple and would love to see a big screen adaptation featuring them.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of something I absolutely loved that would be brilliant on the screen that has not already been done.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see the BBC take more of Charles Dickens obscure works & create a mini-series. They do these so amazingly.
I really enjoy this version of Sherlock Holmes. I look forward to the three episodes.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the Cynsters by Stephanie Laurens on the silver screen or even a PBS special.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Larissa Ione's Demonica/Lords of Deliverance series to be turned into either a television series or film series. I think it would be awesome!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see more of Jane Porter's women fiction stories on the tv.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Julie Lessman's Winds of Change and The Daughter's of Boston series as a mini series.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners

My latest favorite series was The Elven series by Kathryne Kennedy - a mixture of fantasy/historical romance. She makes magical worlds!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, winners!
I would love to see the Mills and Boon Special Release series Bad Blood on screen ! The series had it all ,action, passion, intrige and that was just the first book ! It would make a brilliant series or movie.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveway the lovely post.
Desere
Congrats to the winners!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see J.D. Robb's In Death series although I'm not sure they can find someone as perfect as Roarke to play his character!!
I love that the books of my childhood are coming back as movies! Believe it or not Sherlock Holmes was required reading in one of my High School English classes - kudos to our teacher for not only choosing a book we could all enjoy but for promoting some interesting class discussions as well!
ReplyDeleteAn earlier series was one of my favorites even earlier in life and that was the Nancy Drew mystery series. Very forward thinking at the time to have a girl in the role and way before women's lib was even a thought in anyone's mind.
Maybe that why the women's movement became so popular later on - all of us that had read the series didn't picture us with the same restrictions as our mothers and grandmothers generations! I think it would be a perfect series for TV or movies and a positive impact on girls today!
Congrats to all the winners! I'd have to say that I agree w/ Carol and think that the JD Robb In Death series would be great as a TV series :)
ReplyDeleteWasn't that Sherlock Holmes wonderful Sunday night! So many surprises - I loved the ending!
ReplyDeleteI'm determined to start reading JD Robb's In Death series. I've read almost all of Nora Roberts books, but never got started on this series.
It would be wonderful to have a Regency story or series filmed.
So many Golden Age authors, done without the distortions, would be great!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see the Immortals After Dark as a series.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark Series because I am a paranormal lover!! :)
ReplyDeleteI would also love to see a new Higlander series. They don't need to be immortal, but a good Scottish series with some hunky men would work. ;)
Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.
Congrats winners , great pics

I love the show Sherlock and can't wait for this season!!!
ReplyDeleteAs for a new tv series I would really like to see the Nighthuntress series by Frost, seeing Bones on tv? Yes please!
Congrats winners!
I'll throw my hat into the Bridgerton ring with you, Kim. I also agree with earlier commenters that JDRobb's In Death series would be a good series. I'd also like to see Julie Anne Long's Pennyroyal Green books and Colleen Gleason's Gardella Chronicles made into mini-series.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Stephanie Lauren's Cynster Family be made into a mini series as well. Love those Cynster men. :)

I would pick Lisa Kleypas' Wallflower series.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners!! I have to admit that my first thought was Dallas and Roarke from the In Death series, but for the life of me, I can figure out who could play the parts. I also agree with Mary about the Dark Series. Would be so interesting how both would be adapted!
ReplyDeleteNice review of the episode.
ReplyDeleteFor a different look at this episode, check out my review .
Cheers!
