Aloha to Paula Quinn and CONQUERED BY A HIGHLANDER

On this day in 1590, Anne of Denmark was crowned Queen of Scotland. She was married to King James VI  of Scotland who then became King James I of England (when his second cousin, Queen Elizabeth I, passed away with no heirs).

Scotland.  Sigh.

Anne was the grandmother of Charles II, who rules during Paula Quinn's CHILDREN OF THE MIST series. Book Four, CONQUERED BY A HIGHLANDER, will be released next week:

BOUND BY DUTY

Colin MacGregor was born to fight-for his beliefs, his king, and his family's honor. After years away from his beloved Scotland, he yearns to return to its lush, green hills-and he can, after he completes one final mission for the king. Sent to infiltrate a traitor's home, Colin is determined to expose the treasonous plot and triumph on the battlefield . . . until he meets a sensual lass who tempts him towards other pursuits . . . .

BETRAYED BY PASSION

Lady Gillian Dearly is no stranger to temptation. Cast out of her family for bearing an illegitimate child, she's now the ward of a barbarian conspiring against the king. Her only desire: freedom for her son and for herself at any cost, even if it means making a deal with the devil. Yet when a mysterious Highlander appears in their midst, his braw strength and smoldering gaze give her hope for a future beyond the castle walls-and promise a desire unlike any she's ever known. But passion comes at a price . . .

I am giving away a print copy of CONQUERED BY A HIGHLANDER to one randomly selected commenter. To enter the giveaway,

  2. In the right places mists can add to the backdrop to make a place look so beautiful and surreal.

  3. I find mist to be both romantic and scary at the same time. I wouldn't mind seeing one of those big brawny Highlanders in his kilt wielding his sword appearing out of the mist to me. :-)

  4. I find mists to be scary. Lots of scenes in Gothic romances show things coming out of or hiding in mists.

  5. I like the mist. It's like walking through fairy land. Around here we tend to get mist & a soft drizzle - or mizzle as my family calls it.

  6. I am intrigued. This woman who was unlucky enough to get pregnant when having fun, gets kicked out of her family for it might just have landed in a place where she can make a difference. I have to go check out the other books in this series, I haven't heard of them before.

I love mist, it makes my imagination soar. You just never know what you will find if you go wandering around in the mist....

  7. Kim -

I love Paula's books and love Scotland but then it's in my blood in fact my ancestors left for America from Glascow but though they were from different clans from thoughout the Highlands and Lowlands the they came together in small towns and different states thought the United States and became one family.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to take a trip to Scotland and the one place we visited was Lithingow Palace near Edinburgh and we were the only visitors at the time. When the mist rolled in the only thing I could think of it was that it was magical covering the area and making me think of all the events and people who had lived there including both Queen Mary as well as Cromwell. To me mist means mystery and knowledge as well as peace and war, all that makes the area what it was as well as what it is today.

  13. I like a good mist...it can be mysterious, romantic, intriguing...given the right circumstances, the right weather, it can be all these things. I would like nothing better than to walk through the Scottish Highlands with the mist swirling all around...who knows what I might find? *g*

  20. It depends on when and where. If I am driving I don't like it but if I am walking on the beach I love it. When a Mist is out on the ocean it is beautiful and intriguing since it may be hiding a Pirate Ship. lol
I have read the first 2 books and can't wait to read this one. Love Paula's books.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter giveaway.

  21. Not scary, but mysterious. When it comes to the unknown I'm always curious and the mist would be less scarier if it wasn't in an isolated place.
