I shamelessly begged for a copy of I WANT CANDY by Susan Donovan because I am a huge Susan Donovan fan and can’t get enough of her books. This one really shows her range with current topics as well as what life was like versus what it can be. Not having come from a small town I cannot relate to the suffocation one might feel, but would not mind having everyone know whether you are okay or not. I also don't want you to miss the first book in this series 'CHERI ON TOP' which has the funniest twist of events in it that to this day make me laugh out loud.
I received one copy of I WANT CANDY by Susan Donovan from St. Martin’s Press to be given away. To be eligible to win please leave a comment. What I am asking today is “would or is small town life for you?” Come back on Sunday – March 4th to see if you have won. Please remember if you do not come back, you will not know if you won, because I am going to need your address. As always I wish you happy reading, encourage you to turn a negative into a celebrated Little Victory, come back to see what book I am reviewing and offering up for a giveaway. Do not forget to cast your positive votes for me on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Your vote matters and I greatly appreciate my followers!

REVIEW from "The Reading Reviewer"
I WANT CANDY by Susan Donovan
Does one have to close the door on the past to open the window on your future?
The last place you want to be when your life is a complete train wreck is back home where nothing but misery surrounds you. For Candace Carmichael that is the only place she has left since everything she ever possessed, and there was allot of possessions involved are gone in the housing crisis. Candy and her friend Cheri did come home and things went well for Cheri and Candy wants that but does not expect it. All Candy has ever known in this town is misery and defeat and right now nothing is looking much different, well nothing but Tucker Halliday.
Tucker is the one thing Candy never expected to walk back into her life and her not want them to walk away. He is all in her face and hotter than a fire cracker in his sherriff’s uniform making Candy reconsider allot of her prior opinions about him. That man turned out really fine and while Candy saw them as friends before, now she sees a whole other Tucker she wants to investigate. Being penniless has her bouncing from one ridiculous housing situation to the next but Tucker is always there ready to give her room and board. Tucker has always made room in his life for Candy and truly believes she is the one person that can free his heart to love again.
With Tucker fighting to keep the meth out of town and control his raging obsession with Candy his hands are literally full. Candy always was a delightful surprise he wanted to keep unwrapping and now that she is back in town he hopes to create a recipe for keeping her there. What Candy does know is when the future is leaving a bad taste in your mouth you need to make your own icing for the cake.

I'm from the city and have never lived in small town and I'm not sure I would feel comfortable there. I think the city is for me.
ReplyDeleteI have lived in a small town & I'm glad I live in one much bigger now. If your family isn't perfect, people constantly talk about you. There is no private life. Although I really like small town romance novels :)
ReplyDeleteI've lived everywhere. Small towns, cities & the countryside. It's just a matter of adapting. I'm a very private person, so even living in small towns I did not give people anything to talk about.
ReplyDeleteI always thought I wanted to live in a small town until we stayed with friends who lived in a small town and I realized that I had to drive (and drive) to go shopping. I'm spoil living in a suburb of Chicago.
ReplyDeleteMy husband lived in a small town and I loved being there but would prefer something a bit bigger.
ReplyDeletei was born in small town and now moved and stayed to city
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of living in a small town but I would miss the conveniences of a big town. It's a place I would consider going to when my life is more settled.
ReplyDeleteI lived in a small town in West Virginia and everyone knew everything about everyone...hated it. lol
ReplyDeleteI don't like the idea of a small town and everyone knowing everything about you and everything you do. I live in the suburbs of a larger city and I like it that way.
ReplyDeleteI've always lived in the suburbs but I think I could be happy in the country or a big city. I would think they all would have their good and bad points. I think if you're with those you care about that it wouldn't matter where you live.

I grew up in a very very small community and hated it. I've subsequently lived in much larger cities and I'm now ready to live in one of those smaller towns.
ReplyDeleteI have never lived in a small town. I think I would like it now that I am older but when I was young I couldn't imagine living far away from everything.
