Storage Wars follows teams of bidders looking to score it big in the high stakes world of storage auctions.
In season two the hunt continues as the fortune foursome blaze through Southern California storage facilities -- but with new enemies and higher stakes, finding auction treasure has never been more difficult.

We enjoy the "finds" from each storage locker (whether it is an actual find or stocked by the producer). The buyers often find treasures that showcase our history and other cultures. It would be a perfect show if the buyers simply focused on that - the goods. In keeping with pop culture, there has to be drama as the buyers back stab each other.
We became addicted midway through Season Two. Tonight, A&E rebroadcast some episodes from Season One, giving us the opportunity to compare it to Season Two. Season Two is significantly glossier with more dramatics and hijinks.

Almost anything improves with age. Practice makes perfect. Hindsight is 20/20.
I found this true with my blog. When an author is a repeat guest, I often reread his/her previous interview. Sometimes I cringe at my questions, my writing, and even my pictures (or lack thereof). Let's use the wine and cheese analogy - I've matured over time with my blog.
As authors are looking to reprint back lists, readers have the opportunity to compare the author's current work to the author's previous work. No doubt the author has matured in writing. Knowing this, does this prevent you from reading an author's older books? Or do you plunge into them, regardless of age?

With age & maturity comes wisdom. I like to think so anyway. Sometimes it really is not a good idea to look back too closely. Authors must continually grow & develop over time I imagine to match the world around them.
ReplyDeleteMy brother watches "Storage Wars." Many things do improve over time.
ReplyDeleteI occasionally watch Storage Wars but I'm not a big fan of the show.
ReplyDeleteI do not watch storage wars but I have found that some things are better with time. Take teenagers. They get better with time.
ReplyDeleteups.. i haven't watch this movie ;(
ReplyDeleteI have never watched Storage Wars but have seen the advertisements for it. I have found that sometimes I really enjoy an author's older titles and sometimes they are just not as good as their current stories. You never know what you will find.
ReplyDeleteI love Storage Wars, Pawn Stars, American Pickers, American Restoration, etc. It's one of my new addictions.

I tried watching that show and just couldn't get into it after hearing a couple of the guys from the show in an interview say that they show is ruining their business because now everyone and their mother thinks they can come and buy storage lockers and they don't know how to bid the right way so they bid ridiculous amounts of money on storage units that used to go for half of what they have to pay to win the auction now.
ReplyDeleteAll the complaining they were doing really irritated me so I don't watch the show.
I love watching Storage Wars and Pawn Stars.
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of storage facilities near me but you never see any up for auction. :-(
I've watched the show but luckily I'm not hooked yet. Like books - too many shows and not enough time lol. Some things do mature in time (but like wine, they can turn to vinegar too lol).

ReplyDeleteI've never watched storage wars. I will read an authors earlier books especially if they are at the beginning of a series. Some are good and some are not.
ReplyDeleteI read the author's work regardless of age.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Storage Wars.
If I find an author I like, I will "plunge into" their books regardless of age. I've seen the commercials for Storage Wars, but it isn't something I watch.
ReplyDeleteI'm always surprised by the strange things that are worth money on that show.
ReplyDeleteI love reading earlier works by an author I like. I enjoy charting their progress.

Usually I find I enjoy an author's older books more than their latest if not the same. I don't mind seeing older books released and welcome it. As of now I have a handful of books I really really want to read except they are out of print :(
