Mary’s Musings...about reading, reviewing, and random passing thoughts that come at me every day while I contemplate books and life.
This week has seen some changes for me in not only my job search but also making a decision about what job to search for this time. This would seem to be an easy choice as I have been an Administrative Assistant for 30 years but it has not been. Being lay offed again has made me realize I am not on a “career path” anymore and I don’t need to work for the CEO or SVP because that means I am devoted to you 24/7 and guess what those days are over.
This is not about my age or how many years I have worked so hard and all about enjoying my other life – reading and reviewing. Now I would love to not work and be able to read more but we all know in this economy that is not a reality-based statement. I have taken tremendous hits to the 401k I have and have to sock allot more money away to make sure I have even a reasonable retirement.
I made the decision of what to look for and be honest with myself of what I really can and cannot do with my skill set. This is hopefully the last job I have before retirement but well I also said that about the job that just let me go.
Now to the important part of our day – my contest winners….
Laura Lippmann – The Most Dangerous Thing goes to Carol M
Kylie Chan – White Tiger & Red Phoenix goes to Elf2060
Hope Ramsay (Home at Last Chance) and Bella Riley (Home Sweet Home) goes to ClaudiaGC
Please send your address to my eMail at reader0409@yahoo.com and I will ship your book next Wednesday!
Thanks for being my follower you know I appreciate you.
Next week I have the new Susan Donovan Cheri on Top to give away (two copies mind you); an autographed copy of Knight Everlasting from Jackie Ivey; plus Tutoring: Complete Home Business Guide by Kimberly Davison-Fujioka; and The End of the Wasp Season by Denise Mina.
As always I wish you happy reading, encourage you to celebrate your Little Victories, and come back to see what book I am reviewing and offering up for a giveaway. Tomorrow has to be Tuesday or Thursday because Kim Adams of SOS Aloha fame is here to offer so of her sassy spice to the day.

Congratulations!!
